Ahmed and Choudhary Complete Triple Crowns at ITF Masters in Jaipur

Jaipur’s Riyaz Ahmed and Delhi’s Vibha Choudhary dominated the Raghu Sinha ITF Masters 400 Tennis Tournament on Sunday at the Jaipur Club Courts, each capturing three titles on the final day of the five-day competition, highlighting India’s thriving masters tennis scene.

Ahmed sealed victories in the men’s 40+ singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles, while Choudhary swept the women’s 45+ singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles events. The tournament, held under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and staged from December 10 to 14, featured players from 22 Indian states and six foreign countries.

Ahmed’s Hat-Trick Titles

In the men’s 40+ singles final, Ahmed defeated Punar Bhasin 6-4, 7-5 to capture the crown. He teamed up with Swarandeep Singh Dhodi in doubles to win a tough three-set match 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 against Punar and Rohan Bhasin. Ahmed then partnered with Rani Smita Jain to complete his triple, overcoming Alice Joy and Swarandeep Singh Dhodi 2-6, 6-1, 10-5 in mixed doubles.

“Winning three titles at a Masters event of this level is a tremendous feeling,” Ahmed said. “The field was strong, and every match tested us.”

Choudhary’s Clean Sweep on Women’s Side

Vibha Choudhary, competing in the 45+ category, began her day by defeating Smitha Ravindra 6-2, 6-1 in the singles final. She then joined Rani Smita Jain to claim the women’s doubles title, and in mixed doubles teamed with Narendra Singh Choudhary to beat Ruchi Sharma and Jagdish Tanwar, completing her own triple feat.

“This was an unforgettable week,” Choudhary said. “The support from the crowd and quality of competition raised everyone’s game.”

Event Highlights and Future Outlook

Organisers highlighted the tournament’s high level of competition and professional execution, with Pradeep Jain, the tournament director, promising even greater scale in future editions. “The depth of talent here shows that masters tennis is flourishing in India,” Jain commented. Participants praised the excellent facilities and smooth running of matches by officials and support staff.

Tournament president Ajit Saksena welcomed feedback aimed at elevating the event to ITF 700 status, a move expected to attract even more international players. “We are committed to enhancing this platform for veteran athletes,” Saksena said during the closing ceremony. 

The Raghu Sinha ITF Masters 400 has rapidly gained prominence, reflecting growth from its earlier editions and contributing to India’s standing in global masters tennis.
