Kolhapur KSA football league suspended till Jan-16

The Kolhapur Sports Association has put its ongoing KSA Football League on hold from December 23 to January 16 after police said they cannot spare security personnel during municipal election preparations. The league, being played at Shahu Stadium, will pause mid-season to avoid matches going ahead without crowd control.

KSA officials said the call was made after the police flagged heavy deployment across the city, with the nomination process starting December 23. “Without adequate security, we can’t risk the safety of players or spectators,” a KSA office-bearer said. A police official explained, “Our force is tied up with election duty and city-wide arrangements.” One team representative added, “It’s frustrating to stop when the season is in rhythm, but safety comes first.

The tournament features 16 A-division teams, and KSA said a revised schedule will be issued once matches resume in mid-January.
